Attention all Community Organizations, Property Owners, Business Merchants, & Consumers! #AvenueNYC #CDNA

The Fordham Road BID is the recipient of a 3-year Avenue NYC Commercial Revitalization Grant by the NYC Department of Small Business Services (SBS). Through this grant, the BID is funded to carry out appropriate strategic programming and services that can improve the conditions of targeted commercial districts. If you are interested in partnering with us, or participating in one of our merchant, consumer, property owner or street vendor surveys, please reach out today!

Why We Need You

In the past, blanket changes in the Bronx were made with no real regard to their impact on the surrounding neighborhood businesses. This time around, however, you will have an opportunity to inform some of the decisions being made. Fordham Road BID is partnering with local community organizations, elected officials, and other stakeholders to evaluate your needs, and to listen to what you believe should happen to ensure a vibrant commercial district along the Fordham Road corridor. Whether you are a community organization, property owner, business merchant, or consumer, we want to know your concerns and your vision for the future.

About the Grant

The contract term is July 1, 2021 (CFY 2022) through June 30, 2024

In the first two quarters of the grant term, the Fordham Road BID will be collecting data for a Commercial District Needs Assessment (CDNA). The CDNA is a tool that will guide us through the process of gathering and evaluating information to identify appropriate strategic interventions to improve the conditions of our commercial district, and help us to ensure that we are positioned to more effectively meet the needs of our community. Findings from the CDNA call attention to the strengths, challenges, and opportunities of a commercial district and lay the groundwork for the development of plans and projects.

The CDNA will be comprised of three parts: Partnerships, Corridor, and People. These parts correspond to the three lenses the assessment applies to uncover information about a commercial district: the stakeholders and institutions that make up the district’s organizational ecosystem; the physical contents of its corridors; and the people that rely on its services and contribute to its vitality. As a result, each part will involve a distinct data collection methodology.
